kids writing tip from bridging

did a parent teacher meeting sometime back and here are a list of helping tools for kids writing, which chris has been using. kinda effective:

when kids finish reading, ask them some of these questions:

summarize what happened in the story
what was the main idea of the story
who are the characters in the story and what were they like
why do you think (pick a character) acted that way?
what do you think the author’s purpose was in writing this piece?
how ere (name two characters) alike/different from each other?
which sentence gives the most important idea in the selection?
does this story remind you of something you have done or read about?
what was the author trying to tell the reader/

baseball and run the base

went to the mariners game on 7/31/11, vs Tempa bay Rays. it is the first pro ball game for kevin and chris and they are excited. they even brought the baseball glove hoping to catch a few home run ball. unfortunately the home team did not do a good job and before long it is 5-0. chris decided to root for the Tempa bay right away. they both know Ichiro pretty well and he is right in the left field not far from from where we sitting.

the fun continues after the game, kids got a chance to run the base. there are tons of people there and it took almost 30 minutes just to get into the field. but it definitely worth it. you are right in the baseball field which would otherwise not be accessible to anyone except the players. kids also gets a pin and certificated signed by Ichiro – i run the base on 7/31/11.

kids are having fun at mateo’s bday party, bouncing and jumping. then we went to the near by lake for a hick along the beach and playing with doddy and rock!

6/19/11, father’s day. kevin and chris prepared fathers day gifts to daddy. they are the most wonderful gifts i received. I am a proud dad. It is a priceless experience raising kids and to see they grow from a new born baby to their first walk, first smile, first talk, first song, first dance, first story, first padelling on the bike, first swim… to recieve gifts they so creatively prepared, raising a kid is not easy, but it is a wonderful experience along the way and i feel the kids give me more than i give them. thanks kevin and chris, daddy love you!

The baseball season comes to an end. Both Kevin’s A’s team and chris’s Hooks team are having a great season. they had a good time playing and making friends.
